Job Summary

A reputable Montessori Nursery and Primary School in Surulere, Lagos seeks a compassionate and skilled Special Needs Teacher to provide tailored support for pupils with learning or developmental challenges in an inclusive environment.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and assess pupils with special learning needs.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Provide one-on-one or small group instruction using adaptive methods.
  • Collaborate with class teachers, parents, and specialists to monitor progress.
  • Create a supportive, inclusive classroom culture.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of NCE, Bachelor's Degree in Special Education, with specialization in learning support.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working with children with learning difficulties or developmental needs.
  • Knowledge of Montessori philosophy and inclusive practices is an advantage.
  • Excellent observation and assessment abilities
  • Patience, empathy and emotional intelligence
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to adapt teaching to individual needs
  • Record-keeping and reporting accuracy
