Job Title: Hostel Porter

Location: Lagos

Salary: ₦184,000

Employment Type: Full-Time

Key Responsibilities

1. Front Desk & Guest Support

  • Attend to guests/trainees during check-in and check-out.
  • Provide directions and general information about hostel and training facilities.
  • Assist trainees with luggage and room orientation.

2. Room Readiness & Facility Support

  • Ensure rooms are clean, organized, and ready for occupancy.
  • Conduct daily inspections and report faults (lights, sockets, AC, locks, plumbing, etc.).
  • Support cleaners in keeping hallways, hostels, and common areas tidy.

3. Library Support Duties

  • Organize books, materials, and workstations in the library.
  • Maintain order and ensure users comply with library rules.
  • Assist with opening/closing procedures and proper system shutdowns.
  • Escalate faults related to projectors, computers, and printers.

4. Technical/Electrical Assistance

  • Perform minor fixes (bulb replacement, basic electrical troubleshooting).
  • Identify and report electrical issues or hazards.
  • Support technical setup for training sessions (chairs, power sources, extension boxes, projectors).

5. DSTV / TV Support

  • Provide basic troubleshooting (cable checks, decoder resets, alignment support).
  • Escalate major DSTV/TV issues to IT or facility vendors.
  • Monitor and report faulty TVs in hostels and labs.

6. Hostel Environment Monitoring

  • Patrol corridors to ensure order and safety.
  • Enforce hostel rules and regulations.
  • Monitor and record movement of visitors in and out of the hostel.

7. Night Duty & Emergency Response

  • Monitor noise, movement, and safety during night hours.
  • Respond to emergencies and escalate as required.
  • Maintain accurate entries in the night-duty logbook.

8. Logistics & Movement Support

  • Assist with arranging hostel furniture (beds, lockers, mattresses).
  • Support room reallocations and large group check-ins.
  • Help with classroom and lab setup for training activities.

9. Record Keeping

  • Maintain logs of visitor movements, faults, room occupancy, and incidents.
  • Prepare daily handover notes for the next shift.

Minimum Requirements

  • OND or NCE qualification (no graduates required for this role).
  • Experience in school hostel management is an added advantage.
  • Ability to work night shifts when required.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
