Senior Accountant

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, reports, and general ledger accounts.
  • Ensure timely month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Oversee tax planning, compliance, and regulatory filings (VAT, PAYE, WHT, etc.).
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights to support strategic decisions.
  • Supervise junior accounting staff and coordinate audits with external auditors.
  • Monitor internal controls and ensure adherence to corporate financial policies.
  • Liaise with departments to ensure proper financial reporting and budget management.
  • Reconcile bank statements, vendor accounts, and ensure timely payment processing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (ICAN/ACCA certification preferred).
  • 5–7 years of proven experience in accounting, preferably within the oil and gas or related industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws, financial regulations, and accounting standards (IFRS).
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, or ERP systems).
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
