Responsibilities

  • Project Delivery and Workstream Leadership.
  • Lead the day-to-day delivery of consulting projects, ensuring analytical rigour, effective coordination and timely delivery of output.
  • Structure complex development challenges into clear problem statements, design robust methodologies, and guide research to generate accurate, relevant, and actionable insights
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses on economic, social, and governance issues
  • Synthesise insights from data, literature, and fieldwork to inform project recommendations
  • Support diagnostic assessments and the development of analytical models.
  • Design and facilitate workshops, interviews, and consultations to gather insights, co-create solutions, and strengthen client ownership.
  • Manage relationships with clients, government officials, development partners, and private-sector actors throughout project lifecycles to ensure alignment and sustained impact.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities aligned with Nextier's strategic priorities and emerging market need.
  • Lead or contribute to proposal development, concept notes, and expressions of interest with a focus on analytical depth and client value.
  • Cultivate strategic partnerships that enhance the firm's visibility, influence, and pipeline of impactful engagements.
  • Lead the development of policy briefs, research articles, and knowledge products that advance the firm's intellectual capital

Qualifications

  • A Master's degree in Economics, Public Policy, Development Studies, Political Economy, or a related field is preferred; However, candidates with equivalent professional experience and demonstrated analytical and consulting competence will also be considered.
  • Minimum of 6 years professional experience in management or development consulting, or in a research and strategy role within government, research institutions, or multilateral development organisations.
  • Deep understanding of Africa's development challenges, and the analytical capability to investigate and design evidence-based solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience leading components of advisory or research projects, from problem definition and data collection to synthesis and client delivery.
  • A track record of published work (policy papers, journal articles, or thought-leadership pieces) on development issues
