We are expanding our leadership team with a visionary
Chief Marketing Officer (CMO)
who can build and scale a world-class brand experience for TEDxMaitama.

Role Overview

The Chief Marketing Officer is responsible for shaping the overall marketing strategy, telling the TEDxMaitama story in powerful ways, and growing our influence across Africa and beyond. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, creativity, digital expertise, and leadership.

You will lead brand, content, PR, and audience growth—ensuring TEDxMaitama remains one of Nigeria's most impactful idea-driven platforms.

Key Responsibilities

1. Brand Leadership & Strategy

  • Define and execute TEDxMaitama's long-term brand and marketing strategy.
  • Ensure consistent brand identity across events, digital platforms, partners, and community initiatives.
  • Develop annual marketing goals and KPIs.

2. Digital Marketing & Growth

  • Oversee social media strategy and growth across YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, and TikTok.
  • Design campaigns that expand audience engagement and drive meaningful impact.
  • Lead SEO, email marketing, website optimization, and analytics.

3. Content Strategy & Storytelling

  • Lead content production for events, speakers, thought-leadership, and community content.
  • Work with video and design teams to create high-quality digital assets.
  • Manage editorial calendars and ensure content aligns with TEDx values.

4. Public Relations & Communications

  • Develop PR strategies that position TEDxMaitama as a leading platform for ideas in Africa.
  • Build relationships with media houses, journalists, influencers, and thought leaders.
  • Oversee press releases, announcements, and communication guidelines.

5. Event Marketing

  • Lead marketing for all TEDxMaitama events—Annual Conference, Salons, Webinars, Studio Talks.
  • Drive ticket sales, RSVP conversions, and audience engagement.
  • Collaborate with Partnerships team to deliver sponsor-aligned campaigns.

6. Team Leadership

  • Build and manage a high-performing marketing team (designers, writers, social media, PR, etc.).
  • Set priorities, mentor team members, and foster a collaborative culture.
  • Coordinate cross-functional work with Partnerships, Programs, Production, and Operations.

Requirements

  • Strong background in marketing, brand management, or communications (5+ years ideal).
  • Proven track record of driving digital growth, building communities, or scaling brands.
  • Exceptional storytelling, copywriting, and strategic communication skills.
  • Experience with event marketing, PR, and media relations is a strong advantage.
  • Leadership ability and comfort working with high-performance volunteer teams.
  • Passion for ideas, storytelling, innovation, and social impact.
