Job summary

A newly opening hotel in Port Harcourt is seeking an experienced General Manager to join its pre-opening and operational team.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Operational Oversight: Oversee all hotel departments (Front Desk, Housekeeping, F&B, and Maintenance, etc.) to ensure seamless, high-quality service delivery.
  • Financial Management: Develop budgets, control expenses, implement revenue management strategies, and analyze financial statements to boost profitability.
  • Guest Experience: Implement strategies for total guest satisfaction, resolve issues, and foster loyalty through exceptional service standards.
  • Leadership and Staff Development: Recruit, train, motivate, and evaluate staff; foster a positive work culture, empowering teams to deliver superior guest care services.
  • Sales and Marketing: Collaborate with the marketing team to develop promotions, drive bookings, and enhance brand image.
  • Strategic Planning: Create and execute business plans, monitor industry trends, and implement best practices for growth.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree is an added advantage).
  • Minimum of 4–7 years' experience in the hospitality industry, with at least 3 years in a senior management or General Manager role.
  • Proven experience in hotel pre-opening and full hotel operations.
  • Strong leadership, people management, and decision-making skills.
  • Solid understanding of financial management, budgeting, and revenue optimization.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Strong knowledge of hospitality industry standards, regulatory compliance, and best practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
