Head of Sales

We are looking for a dynamic, results‑driven sales leader to shape and scale our market presence across Nigeria.
Job Summary
The Head of Sales will be responsible for driving revenue growth, expanding the customer base, and delivering on sales targets. You will build and lead a high‑performing sales team, develop strategic partnerships, and ensure alignment of sales activities with the bank's risk and compliance framework.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning
- Develop and execute the annual sales plan, market entry strategies, and channel‑partner roadmaps.
- Set sales targets, KPIs, and performance metrics for the sales unit and cascade to the team.
Team Leadership
- Assist HR to Recruit, train, coach, and retain a motivated sales force (field officers, relationship managers, channel partners).
- In conjunction with HR, conduct regular performance reviews, motivate the team, and drive a culture of excellence.
Business Development
- Identify and secure new business opportunities with SMEs, cooperatives, fintechs, and government agencies.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders – agents, aggregators, and strategic partners.
Product & Market Insights
- Collaborate with Product, Risk, and Finance to design tailored solutions for target segments.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to refine value propositions.
Revenue & Portfolio Management
- Meet and exceed loan disbursement, deposit mobilization, and fee‑income targets.
- Oversee cross‑sell and upsell initiatives to maximize wallet share.
Compliance & Risk
- Ensure all sales activities adhere to CBN regulations, AML/KYC policies, and internal risk controls.
- Conduct regular audits and spot‑checks to maintain sales integrity.
Reporting & Governance
- Produce weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales reports for senior management.
- Present performance insights and strategic recommendations to the Board.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, Economics, or related field. MBA or professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CIBN, CFA) is a plus.
Experience: Minimum 8‑10 years of progressive sales/ business development experience in banking/financial services, with at least 3‑4 years in a managerial/leadership roleX.
Microfinance Exposure: Experience in microfinance, agency banking, or digital lending is highly desirable.
Track Record: Demonstrable history of meeting/exceeding sales targets, building high‑performing teams, and expanding market share.
Network: Strong relationships with SMEs, cooperatives, fintechs, and regulatory bodies in Nigeria.
Skills: Strategic planning, data‑driven decision‑making, negotiation, leadership, financial acumen, and proficiency in Excel/PowerPoint.
