The Role
We are recruiting a Payroll & Compliance Associate to join the People Team who will be responsible for managing and facilitating timely and accurate monthly Payroll operations. As a core member of the People Team, the Payroll Associate will report to the People Director, Centre of Excellence, and work closely with the People Directors, Payroll Specialist, and the Finance team to ensure a seamless payroll administration process in Nigeria.
We are seeking candidates with 3-5 years of experience in payroll management. The successful candidate must be passionate about People, possess strong attention to detail,
exceptional communication skills, and strong organization and planning skills. Success in this role will require someone comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
The role will be in Lagos, Nigeria.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage and facilitate the timely and accurate monthly Nigeria Payroll operations.
- Calculate and enter payroll data.
- Data entry, records management, and analytics as needed.
- Perform month-on-month payroll reconciliations.
- Review Nigeria payroll journal entries for posting.
- Process Nigeria Tax payments and expenses as needed.
- Manage compliance with all statutory regulations, as well as company policies.
- Communicate Payroll developments in a clear and actionable manner to other internal stakeholders, including the People Team, Finance, and Legal teams.
- Partner with Finance teams to support other initiatives such as transfer pricing, time-tracking, records management, compensation, and people analytics.
- Review employee data changes such as new hire entry and direct deposit setup, promotions, status changes, terminations, etc.
- Maintain compensation databases and ensure employment records are properly maintained in the system.
- Support in the onboarding process for new joiners.
- Assist in drafting and reviewing company policies.
- Support in HR Admin tasks.
- Generally, uphold the values of the Company.
- Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
- 3-5 yrs of relevant experience managing payroll.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Experience managing payroll in multiple countries and regions.
- Superior communication skills in English, both written and oral.
- Relationship builder who is comfortable managing the interests of multiple stakeholders.
- Able to work in a complex, high-paced environment and handle ambiguity effectively.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Must be process-oriented.
- Experience working in fin/tech a plus.
Desired skills:

- Payroll Management experience in Financial Services required.
- Thorough understanding of Nigeria Payroll and Statutory-related methodologies and techniques.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide audience, including management.
- Knowledge of Data Analytics testing would be advantageous.
- Must have a professional manner that will reflect positively on payroll management.
- Ability to effectively deal with possible conflicting professional opinions.
- A self-starter who can work with minimal supervision.
- Proactive and takes initiative.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong values and ethics, and ability to maintain professional independence and objectivity, and act based on personal professional conviction and confidence.
