Job summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Relational Database Administrator (RDBA) to serve as the custodian of our data ecosystem. The ideal candidate will ensure seamless database performance, high availability, data integrity, and security across all environments.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain relational database systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle), ensuring 99.9% availability.
  • Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, analyze, and optimize queries to minimize latency.
  • Implement and manage database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure zero data loss in critical scenarios.
  • Ensure data security, user access controls, and compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Design and maintain database schemas, tables, indexes, and stored procedures.
  • Collaborate with developers and other teammates to implement database changes and support application integrations.
  • Conduct routine database health checks for database incidents to diagnose root causes of outages/ performance dips, and generate performance reports.
  • Support data migration, upgrades, and patch management processes.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for database procedures and configurations.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of proven experience as a Relational Database Administrator or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL (writing, debugging, and optimizing complex queries) and relational database concepts.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major RDBMS (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or Oracle).
  • Experience with backup/recovery tools and monitoring systems.
  • Understanding of database security best practices.
  • Familiarity with Linux/Windows server environments.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with "Infrastructure as Code" tools (Terraform, Ansible).(Nice-to-Have)
  • Knowledge of NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis) for hybrid environments. (Nice-to-Have)
  • Experience with cloud-based databases (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL). (Nice-to-Have)
  • Knowledge of database automation tools and scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell). (Nice-to-Have)
  • Note that proximity to the location would be highly considered.
