About the Role

The Managing Director – Corporate Development Executive Office (MD–CDEO) plays a pivotal leadership role in driving the company's long-term growth, expansion, and strategic initiatives under the GENESIS Decade (2020–2030) transformation objectives.

This role requires a hands-on, proactive, and strategic leader capable of managing high-performing teams, coordinating complex projects, and ensuring the successful execution of the company's corporate, financial, and business strategies across multiple geographies.

The MD–CDEO will also act as a key advisor and operational partner to the Chairman, shaping strategic decisions that align with the company's vision to expand energy infrastructure and sustainable investments across Africa and global markets.

Key Responsibilities1. Strategic Leadership

  • Oversee daily administration and coordination of teams under the Corporate Development Executive Office (CDEO).
  • Drive performance across multiple functional units including corporate finance, procurement, client coverage, frontier markets, government relations, and communications.
  • Support the Chairman in formulating, executing, and adapting the company's corporate and financial strategies.
  • Align subsidiary and business unit strategies with group-wide objectives and growth plans.

2. Driving Growth & Expansion

  • Originate and secure new projects across the energy value chain.
  • Collaborate with project development and funding teams to explore new markets and raise capital.
  • Develop and nurture strategic relationships that support deal origination and project execution.
  • Conduct market research, monitor trends, and identify innovative technologies or opportunities to drive business diversification.

3. Business Performance & Risk Oversight

  • Evaluate the commercial performance of ongoing projects and operational entities.
  • Identify and mitigate regulatory, financial, and operational risks across diverse African markets.
  • Partner with Finance, Asset Management, and other units to ensure compliance, performance tracking, and profitability optimization.

4. Strategic Partnership & Stakeholder Management

  • Manage and strengthen relationships with funding partners, government agencies, corporates, and key stakeholders.
  • Represent the company in high-level engagements and negotiations to drive project success.
  • Ensure alignment of partnerships and joint ventures with the company's growth agenda.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage multiple high-performing teams.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable business strategies.
  • Proven experience in business development, capital structuring, and market expansion.
  • Exceptional financial and commercial acumen, with strong deal origination skills.
  • Advanced understanding of risk management, corporate governance, and regulatory environments across emerging markets.
  • Excellent relationship management skills with top-level stakeholders and partners.
  • Education: Advanced Degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or related field (MBA preferred).
  • Experience: Minimum of 10–15 years in senior management roles within Energy, Infrastructure, Finance, or Corporate Development.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to deliver measurable results in dynamic environments.

  • Effective management and timely delivery of all CDEO initiatives and targets.
  • Successful origination and execution of new projects across the energy value chain.
  • Capital raised and profitable contracts secured (e.g., Solar PV, LPG, Infrastructure).
  • Measurable growth in new market entries and expansion projects.
  • Strengthened internal and external partnerships leading to increased business opportunities.
