Background

The Organization manufactures a diverse range of paper-based packaging products — including paper cups, boxes, buckets, and paper bags — using multiple grades of paper such as Cupstock, Kraft, and FBB. Each SKU has specific paper requirements, and substitutions are sometimes required to manage stock or production continuity.

Currently, production planning is managed through a complex MIS and Excel-based model that tracks paper usage, forecasts, substitutions, and order levels. While functional, the process is laborious and lacks real-time visibility. The company is now looking for a capable individual (or consultant) to redesign and manage this planning process, ensuring accurate forecasting, efficient material utilization, and reliable production flow.

Role Objective

To build and operate a robust production planning, procurement, and inventory control system — one that integrates well with sales forecasts, provides clear visibility of material usage, ensures timely ordering, minimizes stock-outs, automates key workflows, and maintains strong coordination between production, purchase, and sales teams.

Key Responsibilities


• Analyze & Map Current Systems: Review current planning tools, identify inefficiencies, and map paper types and substitution logic.


• Redesign, Simplify & Automate the Planning System: Create a streamlined, real-time model linking sales forecasts, paper orders, and production runs. Recommend appropriate software or ERP/MRP tools and provide a plan for long-term scalability.


• Forecasting & Analytical Oversight: Compare forecasted vs. actual consumption, highlight variances, and guide procurement decisions.


• Implementation & Control Framework: Define and document processes, responsibilities, and approval systems for material exceptions and substitutions.


• Training & Transition (BOT Model): Train teams, identify a full-time planner, and manage the transition for continuity.

Candidate Profile


• Degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.


• 4–10 years' experience in production planning, manufacturing, or inventory control, ideally in packaging or FMCG.


• Strong capability in digital planning and modeling tools (Excel, ERP, MRP, or other integrated manufacturing systems), with demonstrated ability to automate planning and procurement processes.


• Proven ability in process design, analytical thinking, and cross-department coordination.
