OSP Maintanance

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled OSP Maintenance Officer to oversee and maintain the organization's outside plant (OSP) network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will ensure network integrity, reliability, and uptime through regular maintenance, prompt fault resolution, and adherence to engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on OSP infrastructure including fiber optic cables, ducts, manholes, and termination points.
• Respond swiftly to fiber cuts, outages, and network degradations to minimize downtime.
• Conduct routine network health checks and ensure compliance with maintenance schedules.
• Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to execute repair and restoration activities efficiently.
• Update as-built drawings, maintenance logs, and network documentation after every activity.
• Supervise field technicians and contractors to ensure work quality and adherence to safety standards.
• Provide periodic reports on maintenance activities, incident trends, and preventive actions.
• Ensure all OSP assets are protected, well-labeled, and in optimal operational condition.

Requirements

• B.Sc./HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
• Minimum of 2–3 years experience in OSP maintenance or telecom network operations.
• Strong understanding of fiber optic network architecture, splicing, and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency with OTDR, power meter, and fusion splicing tools.
• Knowledge of GIS mapping tools and documentation standards is an advantage.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, especially during emergency outages.

Preferred Skills

• Certification in Fiber Optics, OSP Engineering, or Network Maintenance (added advantage).
• Strong team spirit, accountability, and attention to detail.
• Understanding of HSE standards and field safety protocols.
