Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Pipe Fitter to layout, cut, shape, fabricate, and install high-pressure piping systems, carbon steel/HDPE lines, and structural supports in accordance with engineering drawings and strict quality standards. The ideal candidate will work closely with welders and QC inspectors to ensure all piping spools and site tie-ins are precisely fitted, aligned, and ready for welding and testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and isometric drawings to plan layout and assembly sequence.
- Select, measure, cut, thread, and bend carbon steel, stainless steel, or HDPE pipes using hand tools, power tools, cutting torches, and pipe-cutting machinery.
- Align and fit pipes, fittings, flanges, elbows, and valves using levels, square rules, and alignment clamps in preparation for welding.
- Perform tack welding or secure components temporarily to hold assemblies in position according to Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
- Assemble and install pre-fabricated piping systems, utility lines, and equipment hook-ups both in the fabrication yard and out on project sites.
- Check dimensions, clearances, and alignments using precision measuring tools to ensure strict compliance with project specifications and isometric drawings.
- Coordinate with QC Inspectors during fit-up inspections to ensure zero defects and clear any alignment punch items before final welding begins.
- Strictly adhere to company Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies, including safe rigging, lifting, hot work, and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related technical discipline.
- National Diploma (OND), or relevant technical certification in Mechanical/Metal Fabrication.
- 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience as a Pipe Fitter within the oil & gas, EPC, heavy fabrication, or pipeline construction sector.
- Proven ability to read and interpret isometric drawings, P&IDs, and technical piping schematics.
- Strong practical knowledge of piping materials (carbon steel, alloy steel, HDPE), flanges, gaskets, and various fitting types (ANSI, ASME standards).
- Familiarity with workshop tools, cutting/grinding equipment, beveling machines, and basic tack welding.
- High regard for safety regulations (especially hot work safety, confined space entry, and rigging/lifting protocols).
- Strong physical stamina, teamwork, and attention to detail.
