LEAD DESIGNER

6–8 Years Department: Design Grade/Level: Mid-Level (Individual Contributor) Reports To: Head of Design JOB SUMMARY The Lead Designer is responsible for providing creative direction, technical oversight, and design leadership across architectural, interior design, and spatial design projects. The role oversees the development of design concepts, 3D visualizations, technical drawings, and design specifications, ensuring that all deliverables meet established quality standards, project requirements, and client expectations. The successful candidate will combine strong creative abilities with technical expertise and project coordination skills to deliver innovative, functional, aesthetically appealing, and sustainable design solutions. The role also ensures design consistency, technical accuracy, and effective collaboration across project teams. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Design & Conceptualization Develop innovative design concepts and creative strategies for architectural, interior, and spatial design projects. Lead the design development process, translating project briefs and client requirements into functional and visually compelling design solutions. Identify opportunities to improve design processes, creative workflows, and project delivery. Conduct research into emerging design technologies, materials, industry innovations, and global design trends. Evaluate design concepts for functionality, practicality, feasibility, and compliance with project requirements. Present design concepts and recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders. Provide creative and technical direction throughout the design development process. 2. 3D Modelling & Visualization Lead the development of 3D models, architectural visualizations, and high-quality design presentations. Oversee the production of realistic renderings and visual representations of proposed design solutions. Ensure accuracy and consistency across 3D models, technical drawings, and design documentation. Identify and resolve design conflicts and spatial coordination issues. Implement effective 3D modelling and visualization processes to improve design efficiency. Ensure design models and visualizations accurately reflect project specifications and client expectations. 3. Design Standards, Specifications & Quality Assurance Review and approve design concepts, technical drawings, specifications, and other design deliverables. Ensure all designs comply with established quality standards, project requirements, building regulations, and applicable industry codes. Conduct design reviews and quality assurance checks at different stages of project development. Identify design inconsistencies, technical errors, and areas requiring improvement. Establish and maintain design standards, documentation procedures, and quality control processes. Ensure consistency and accuracy across all project design deliverables. 4. Design & Aesthetic Direction Establish creative direction, design themes, colour palettes, material selections, finishes, and overall spatial aesthetics. Ensure design solutions balance functionality, visual appeal, user experience, and client requirements. Develop design concepts that reflect the intended identity, purpose, and experience of each project. Research and recommend innovative materials, furniture, finishes, and design elements. Maintain awareness of contemporary architectural and interior design trends. Ensure consistency in design quality and aesthetic direction across projects. 5. Safety, Sustainability & Maintainability Incorporate health, safety, and sustainability considerations into design development. Recommend environmentally responsible materials, energy-efficient solutions, and sustainable design practices. Ensure technical designs comply with applicable building regulations, environmental requirements, and safety standards. Consider durability, functionality, and ease of maintenance when selecting materials and developing spatial layouts. Collaborate with project and construction teams to address technical design challenges and ensure design feasibility during implementation. 6. Project Coordination & Collaboration Coordinate design activities across multiple projects to ensure timely and quality delivery. Work closely with architects, interior designers, project managers, engineers, and construction teams. Monitor design deliverables against project timelines and agreed specifications. Provide technical guidance and support during project execution. Manage design revisions and ensure client feedback is properly incorporated. Support knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the design team. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture, Spatial Design, or a related design discipline. A B.
Sc. in Architecture is preferred. A Master's degree is an added advantage. Professional

Experience:
6–8 years of progressive experience in architectural design, interior design, or spatial design. Leadership

Experience:
At least 3 years of experience coordinating design teams, managing design deliverables, or providing technical and creative direction. Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, BIM environments, Adobe Creative Suite, and rendering tools such as V-Ray, Enscape, or Lumion. Project

Experience:
Demonstrated experience managing multiple design projects, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and delivering projects within agreed timelines. Portfolio: A strong portfolio showcasing completed architectural, commercial, interior design, or workspace projects. SKILLS AND COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS Technical and Professional Competencies Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and other relevant design applications. Advanced knowledge of 3D modelling, architectural visualization, and BIM processes. Strong understanding of architectural detailing, construction drawings, material specifications, and building systems. Excellent spatial planning, design development, and technical documentation skills. Strong project coordination, planning, and time management abilities. Ability to interpret technical drawings, project briefs, and client requirements. Strong creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
