Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Procurement/Inventory Officer to manage the purchasing of goods and services while maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring the availability of required materials. The ideal candidate should have strong negotiation, supplier management, stock control, and record-keeping skills.
Job Description
- Manage the procurement of materials, equipment, supplies, and services in line with company requirements.
- Source and evaluate suppliers based on quality, price, reliability, and delivery timelines.
- Request and compare supplier quotations before making purchasing recommendations.
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and other purchasing conditions.
- Prepare purchase orders and ensure procurement documentation is properly maintained.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of ordered items.
- Inspect received goods to confirm quantity, quality, and specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, suppliers, invoices, and procurement activities.
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure adequate stock availability.
- Maintain accurate stock records and regularly update inventory systems.
- Conduct routine and periodic physical stock counts and reconcile discrepancies.
- Monitor stock movement, usage, damaged items, expired items, and slow-moving inventory.
- Establish appropriate reorder levels and initiate replenishment when necessary.
- Ensure proper storage, labeling, handling, and organization of inventory.
- Work closely with finance, operations, warehouse, and other departments to meet material requirements.
- Monitor procurement and inventory costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
- Prepare regular procurement, inventory, stock movement, and supplier performance reports.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, approved budgets, and applicable procedures.
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and resolve delivery or quality issues promptly.
- Assist management in improving procurement processes and inventory control systems. Requirements/Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or HND in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field.
- Proven years of relevant experience in procurement, inventory, purchasing, or supply chain operations.
- Good knowledge of procurement processes, inventory management, and stock control.
- Strong supplier sourcing, negotiation, and vendor-management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and inventory/procurement software.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and record-keeping skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to monitor multiple purchases and meet delivery deadlines.
- High level of integrity and ability to handle company resources responsibly.
- Ability to identify and resolve inventory discrepancies and procurement issues.
- Professional certification such as CIPS, CIPSMN, or related certification is an advantage. Pay: ₦70,000.00
