About the Role
We are looking for a reliable, resourceful, and detail-oriented Company Buyer with strong procurement and inventory management knowledge to join our team. The Company Buyer will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing raw materials, food items, beverages, operational supplies, cleaning materials, office supplies, and other items required for the smooth running of the Company. The ideal candidate must understand both purchasing and inventory processes, ensuring that items purchased are properly received, recorded, stored, and accounted for.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and purchase approved goods and supplies.
- Obtain and compare prices from different suppliers and markets.
- Negotiate competitive prices and favourable purchasing terms.
- Conduct regular market surveys and monitor prevailing market prices.
- Ensure purchased items meet the required quality, quantity, and specifications.
- Coordinate with the Store/Inventory team to ensure purchased items are properly received and recorded.
- Ensure all purchases are supported by valid receipts, invoices, and other required documentation.
- Monitor purchased items from procurement through delivery and handover to the Store.
- Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records.
- Monitor stock levels and identify items that require replenishment.
- Work with relevant departments to prevent overstocking, stock-outs, wastage, and unnecessary purchases.
- Participate in stock counts and inventory reconciliation when required.
- Identify and report discrepancies between purchased quantities, delivered quantities, and inventory records.
- Monitor the condition and shelf life of purchased items, particularly food and other perishable products.
- Maintain good relationships with reliable suppliers and vendors.
- Properly account for all purchase advances and Company funds.
- Comply strictly with the Company’s procurement, inventory, finance, audit, and internal control procedures. Requirements
- OND, HND, or Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
- 2–3 years‘ experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory, stores, supply chain, or a related role.
- Good knowledge of inventory management, stock control, stock reconciliation, and inventory documentation.
- Experience in the hospitality, restaurant, food service, retail, or FMCG industry is an advantage.
- Strong negotiation and bargaining skills.
- Good knowledge of the Lagos market and local suppliers.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and record-keeping skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic computer applications.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail. What We Are Looking For The ideal candidate should be: Honest Cost-Conscious Resourceful Organised Analytical Accountable Detail-Oriented Proactive You should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the complete purchasing cycle
