- 800k (net) The AV Design Lead runs a full project — Stage One through Stage Six on AV/ELV Consulting engagements, or Stage Two through Six on Integration Direct engagements — from a single point of accountability. It also carries the framework's client/project discovery and RFI ownership: this is the person who runs the discovery meeting, reviews architectural drawings, and holds first client contact. The Lead does not personally execute every task on their project. Deliverables such as CAD drawings, cable schedules, rack layouts, basic wiring documentation — are delegated to junior design staff and interns, then reviewed and signed off by the Lead before client release. What the Lead "holds" from those junior levels is supervisory accountability for the quality of that work, not the drafting itself.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project ownership: ● Run up to two simultaneous projects end to end: Client/Project Discovery Report, Request for Information Checklist, architectural drawing review, through to Stage Six handover and project close. ● Hold final sign-off authority over every deliverable produced by subordinates before client release, in line with the framework's standing sign-off rule. ● Enforce the stage gate on every project held: deliverables issued, review held and minuted, client approval recorded, payment for the next stage confirmed before work proceeds. Supervision, delegation and quality control: ● Assign Stage One through Four drafting, schematic, and documentation work to junior designers and interns according to what each level is cleared to produce and review it before it counts as a stage deliverable. ● Supervise interns and junior designers during installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting, per the intern-level task list — shadowing, equipment handling, wiring, labeling — ensuring what they touch on site is correct before it is signed off. ● Run the three-revision-session allowance per stage: attend and record every review session, track consumption against the allowance, and flag when a fourth session becomes chargeable. ● Identify readiness for progression in the junior staff assigned, and feed that into the Design Studio Manager's team development planning. Technical design and documentation ● Produce or take direct authorship of the higher-complexity deliverables in the framework: Device Placement Drawing (Revit Model), Functional Specification, Single Line Drawing, and the Bill of Materials in its final form. ● Review and approve the AV Technology Matrix, Design Fee Estimator output, and proposal package before it reaches the client. ● Author the Experience Assurance checklists at Stage One and run the Stage Five verification against them personally. Client and cross-discipline coordination ● Run the discovery meeting and issue minutes; hold the primary client relationship for the duration of the project. ● Coordinate with mechanical & electrical, lighting, and interior design consultants where the project requires it, and represent the Studio at tender evaluation sessions for projects they hold. ● On Integration Direct projects, apply the withholding rule until the Studio is commissioned, and manage the compressed, price-led sequencing that variant requires. REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS ● Minimum 5-8 years of A.
V system design experience. ● Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, AV/Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering or applied science discipline. ● Working knowledge of AutoCAD/Revit design and coordination workflows. ● Fluent in reading and producing system schematics, signal flow diagrams, rack elevations, and functional specifications without supervision. ● Demonstrated supervisory experience — With over 5 years in a supervisory position. ● CTS or equivalent AVIXA certification preferred.
