NorthQuest Finance is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Head, Business Development & Commercial to lead its revenue growth, loan origination, deposit mobilization, strategic partnerships, and market expansion agenda.
The successful candidate will take ownership of the commercial function across our automotive, real estate, energy and power, SME, and trade finance product lines.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the Company’s commercial and revenue-growth strategy.
- Drive loan origination across automotive finance, real estate, energy, SME lending, LPO financing, invoice discounting, and overdraft facilities.
- Lead the mobilisation and retention of deposits from retail, high-net-worth, corporate, and institutional customers.
- Build and manage a strong pipeline of commercially viable and credit-compliant transactions.
- Develop strategic relationships with corporate organisations, cooperatives, developers, dealers, fleet operators, energy companies, and financial intermediaries.
- Negotiate and close high-value partnerships and commercial transactions.
- Monitor revenue, loan disbursement, deposit growth, pipeline conversion, customer acquisition, and other commercial performance indicators.
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing business development and commercial team.
- Partner with Credit and Risk, Finance, Operations, and Customer Experience to deliver sustainable, high-quality business growth. The Head of Business Development and Commercial will provide regular reporting to senior leadership and represent NorthQuest Finance at industry events and client meetings. Qualifications
- Proven experience in business development, commercial management, or sales leadership within financial services or a related industry.
- Strong skills in market analysis, strategic planning, and revenue growth initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to build and manage high-performing teams, with effective leadership and people management capabilities.
- Excellent negotiation, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills with corporate and institutional clients.
- Advanced communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence decision-makers and drive alignment across functions.
- Solid understanding of financial products, risk considerations, and regulatory environments relevant to the Lagos and broader African markets.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field; a relevant postgraduate degree or professional certification is an advantage.
- Ability to work on-site in Lagos, operate in a fast-paced environment, and adapt to evolving business priorities.
