About the Role
The Sales Associate is responsible for driving revenue growth, customer acquisition, and product adoption across assigned markets and territories. The role combines sales execution, business development, market intelligence, and commercial analysis, requiring a strong understanding of the downstream energy sector, TradeGrid’s products and technology, and the markets in which it operates. The role is responsible for identifying opportunities, solving business challenges, generating insights, and supporting commercial decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Drive sales, revenue, and customer acquisition across TradeGrid’s product portfolio.
- Identify and convert new business opportunities across assigned states, territories, customer segments, and channels.
- Build and manage relationships with commercial transport associations, fleet owners, independent petroleum marketers, local business owners and other relevant stakeholders.
- Manage sales pipelines and identify upselling, cross-selling, and market expansion opportunities.
- Consistently achieve individual, territory, and regional sales targets. Market & Commercial Insights
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of the downstream energy market, including customer needs, competition, pricing, market trends, to identify and leverage business opportunities.
- Monitor market and customer activity and translate findings into actionable business insights.
- Analyze sales and customer data to identify performance trends, opportunities, gaps, and risks.
- Provide recommendations to management on territory growth, customer acquisition, product adoption, pricing, and other commercial decisions. Territory & Performance Management
- Take ownership of commercial performance across assigned territories and proactively identify actions required to improve results.
- Plan and execute effective territory coverage, station visits, and customer engagement activities.
- Maintain accurate sales, pipeline, customer, and activity records and produce regular performance reports and analysis.
- Use sales data and field activity to support forecasting, planning, and decision-making. Product & Technology
- Develop a strong working knowledge of TradeGrid’s products, technology platforms, and systems and effectively communicate their value to customers.
- Drive adoption and usage of TradeGrid’s digital products and identify opportunities to improve the customer experience.
- Use relevant technology and reporting tools to manage sales activities, track performance, and generate insights. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Leadership
- Work effectively with Operations, Product Engineering, Finance, and other teams to achieve business objectives.
- Communicate customer and market insights to relevant teams and contribute to product, operational, and commercial improvements. Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
- 3–7 years’ experience in sales, business development, commercial operations, or a related role, preferably within the downstream oil & gas or energy sector, or other B2B/B2C commercial environment.
- Demonstrated track record of achieving or exceeding sales and revenue targets.
- Experience managing a territory, multiple locations, customer segments, or geographically distributed accounts.
- Strong understanding of the downstream energy sector and fuel retail market; experience working with filling stations, station owners, fleet operators, or related energy businesses is an advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to use sales data and business information to analyze performance, identify trends, and generate actionable insights.
- Strong understanding of technology and the ability to effectively use digital platforms including Google Suite and CRM systems to create sales dashboards, performance reports and forecasts.
- Willingness to travel regularly across assigned territories. Competencies
