Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and Implement Safety Policies and Procedures:
- Collaborate with management to develop and implement comprehensive health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures specific to construction sites.
- Ensure adherence to local regulations and industry standards.
- Conduct Site Inspections and Risk Assessments:
- Regularly inspect construction sites to identify potential hazards and assess risks.
- Conduct risk assessments and recommend measures to mitigate identified risks.
- Provide Safety Training and Education:
- Develop and deliver safety training programs for construction workers, supervisors, and management.
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety meetings, and other educational sessions to promote awareness and compliance with safety protocols.
- Monitor Compliance and Incident Investigation:
- Monitor compliance with safety policies and procedures on construction sites.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain Safety Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, incidents, and corrective actions.
- Prepare reports and presentations to communicate safety performance and recommendations to management.
- Develop and implement emergency response procedures for construction sites.
- Coordinate drills and exercises to test the effectiveness of emergency response plans.
- Promote a Safety Culture.
- Foster a culture of safety awareness and accountability among construction personnel.
- Encourage active participation in safety initiatives and programs.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or HND in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
- 4-6 years of similar experience, preferably in a similar role
- Certification in Occupational Health and Safety e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA preferred.
- Previous experience in construction safety management or related field.
- Strong knowledge of relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to promoting a safe working environment.
- Ability to identify Hazard and prevention measures.
