JOB SUMMARY
Key RequirementsEducational Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field. Professional certification such as ACA, ACCA, CIA, or equivalent is mandatory.Experience: Minimum of 5 years experience in internal auditing, preferably within the financial services sector. Demonstrable knowledge of stockbroking operations and regulatory environment in Nigeria.Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Proficiency in audit software and Microsoft Office Suite. High level of integrity and attention to detail.Personal Attributes: Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong organizational and multitasking skills. Proactive and self-motivated. Capable of handling confidential information with discretion.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Job Description Our client is looking to hire a highly competent Internal Auditor to join their team and ensure the accuracy, compliance, and efficiency of our financial and operational processes.Job Overview The Internal Auditor will play a critical role in assessing and improving the effectiveness of our risk management, control, and governance processes. The successful candidate will bring a deep understanding of the financial sector, particularly stockbroking, and will be adept at identifying potential issues and recommending practical solutions.Key DutiesAudit Planning & Execution: Develop and implement comprehensive audit plans covering all aspects of the firm's operations. Conduct financial, compliance, and operational audits to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies.Risk Assessment: Identify and evaluate the firm's risk areas and provide key input to the development of the annual audit plan. Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, particularly in relation to stockbroking activities.Internal Controls: Review and appraise the soundness, adequacy, and application of accounting, financial, and operational controls. Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and company policies.Reporting: Prepare clear, concise, and well-documented audit reports detailing findings and recommendations. Present audit findings to senior management and the Audit Committee.Follow-Up: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of corrective actions taken to address audit findings. Provide ongoing feedback and support to management regarding internal control improvements.Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry best practices, regulatory changes, and emerging risks. Recommend innovative approaches to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the audit function.
