Job Summary:

  • As an experienced Nurse Midwife, you will provide comprehensive prenatal and postnatal care to patients, manage labour and delivery with the consultant obstetrician who proactively monitors and direct activities, and offer routine gynaecological services.
  • The role involves educating patients on childbirth, postpartum care, and family planning.
  • The Nurse Midwife works collaboratively with obstetricians, paediatricians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best outcomes for mother and baby.

Key Responsibilities:

Prenatal Care:

  • Conduct initial and ongoing prenatal assessments.
  • Monitor fetal development and maternal health.
  • Provide education and counselling on pregnancy, childbirth, and newborn care.
  • Develop and implement individualised birth plans.

Labour and Delivery:

  • Manage and support labour and delivery processes.
  • Provide pain management and comfort measures during labour.
  • Perform deliveries and manage complications as needed.
  • Collaborate with obstetricians and other healthcare professionals in emergency situations.

Postnatal Care:

  • Conduct postnatal assessments for mother and baby.
  • Provide breastfeeding support and education.
  • Monitor and address postpartum complications.
  • Offer guidance on family planning and contraceptive options.

Routine Gynaecological Care:

  • Perform routine gynaecological exams and screenings.
  • Diagnose and treat common gynaecological conditions.
  • Provide counselling on reproductive health and preventative care.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Batchelors degree or Diploma in Nurse-Midwifery from an accredited Nursing institution.
  • Current and valid Nurse Midwife certification and license to practice.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in nursing and midwifery or related field.
  • Experience in managing labour and delivery.

Skills:

  • Strong clinical skills in prenatal, delivery, and postnatal care.
  • Excellent communication and patient education abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a healthcare team.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records EMR systems.

Certifications and licenses:

  • Current Registered Nurse RN license.
  • Certified Nurse Midwife CNM credential.
  • Basic Life Support BLS and Advanced Cardiac Life Support ACLS certifications will be an advantage.
