Job Summary:
The Bread/Bakery Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the bakery, ensuring high-quality bread and baked goods production, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and providing excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Production and Quality Control:
- Supervise bread and baked goods production, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Implement and maintain quality control processes.
- Conduct regular taste tests and quality checks.
2. Staff Management:
- Supervise and train bakery staff, including bakers, decorators, and sales staff.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and discipline staff when necessary.
- Foster a positive and productive bakery environment.
3. Inventory Management:
- Order and manage ingredients, supplies, and equipment.
- Monitor inventory levels, reduce waste, and optimize stock usage.
4. Customer Service:
- Ensure excellent customer service and respond to customer complaints.
- Collaborate with the sales team to provide seamless service.
5. Maintenance and Cleaning:
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Ensure equipment is properly maintained and cleaned.
6. Recipe Development and Implementation:
- Assist with recipe development, testing, and implementation.
- Ensure recipes are followed consistently and accurately.
7. Reporting and Administration:
- Maintain accurate records of bakery operations, including production, inventory, and customer feedback.
- Prepare reports and provide data to support bakery operations and decision-making.
8. Health and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including food safety and handling procedures.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments.
Requirements:
1. Education and Training:
- Diploma or degree in baking and pastry arts, culinary arts, or a related field.
- Certification in baking, pastry arts, or a related field (e.g., Certified Baker, CB).
2. Experience:
- 2+ years of experience in a bakery or a related environment.
- Proven experience in bakery supervision or management.
3. Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong baking and pastry arts skills and knowledge.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize duties.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of bakery management software.
Working Conditions:
1. Physical Demands:
- Standing for long periods, lifting, bending, and manual handling.
- Working in a fast-paced, hot, and noisy bakery environment.
