Communication Officer

Position Summary
The post holder will work closely with the Communications Coordinator, and State Coordinators to develop and implement effective communication strategy. He/she will focus on strengthening internal and external communications within the state of deployment, including writing and editing publications such as briefs, reports, newsletters.
The position holder will work with the media to build strategic relationships and provide direction for constructive engagement with critical stakeholders that increases GPD visibility within and outside the state.

Roles and Responsibilities
• Communication for development
• Social Media / Network
• Constructive engagement of critical stakeholders.
• Written and multimedia content development and publication, including newsletters, bulletin, success stories for websites and social media platforms to increase the visibility of GPD
• Work with Communications coordinator to upload videos and pictures captured during project activities in our website and social media handles
• Support in managing GPD’s online presence by growing its audience and increasing engagement through social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram)

Skills & Abilities
• Ability to communicate complex ideas in simple language
• Demonstrable ability to work independently, think strategically as well as work within a team
• Creative thinking, developing, designing, or creating new ideas, relationships, systems, or products
• Fluency in written and spoken English
• Familiar with the latest trends, tactics and technologies in digital influencing and can link online with offline media.
• Some graphic design skills and ability to develop simple infographics is desirable


Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication or other communication studies

Required Experience
• At least 1-2 years of professional experience in communications for development, media and public relations, and campaign preferably with NGO;
• Good knowledge in social media handles
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
