Job Description

The Sexual and Reproductive Health Programme Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring the effective implementation of UNFPA's sexual and reproductive health programme in Nigeria. Reporting directly to the Deputy Representative, this individual is responsible for providing strategic leadership and technical expertise to the programme.

About the Role

This position involves overseeing the management of SRH projects, including budgeting, financial management, and reporting. The successful candidate will ensure the timely and effective implementation of SRH programmes and projects, achieving planned results. Key responsibilities include:

• Providing technical guidance and oversight for the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of SRH programmes;
• Ensuring quality assurance and adherence to international standards in SRH service delivery;
• Strengthening the capacity of national partners and UNFPA staff in SRH through training, technical assistance, and knowledge sharing;
• Overseeing the development of and implementing monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess the impact of SRH programmes;
• Preparing and disseminating reports on programme performance and impact, complying with donor requirements and contractual obligations;
• Building and maintaining strategic partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, donors, and other stakeholders;
• Representing UNFPA in national and international forums related to SRH.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must possess an advanced university degree (Master's or higher) in Public Health, Health Economy, Medicine, Social Sciences, or a related field. A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible professional experience in SRH, including programme design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, is required. Experience in managing complex SRH programmes in a developing country context is essential, as is demonstrated leadership and management experience.

Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of SRH issues, policies, and programmes. Excellent project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills are also essential, as is proven ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively with various stakeholders. Strong advocacy, communication, and interpersonal skills are required, as is proficiency in English; knowledge of local languages is an asset.
