Kaduna, Kaduna, Nigeria SENCE Limited Full time

The Farmer Liaison Officer (FLO) is responsible for building and managing the client's farmer network from the ground up. This role goes beyond engagement — it is about actively sourcing, onboarding, and managing reliable farmers who can meet marketplace demand for various crops.

The ideal candidate is energetic, fast-moving, and entrepreneurial — able to act quickly when opportunities arise (such as produce supply requests) and to develop a sustainable network of farmers through trust, coordination, and results.

Key Result Areas & Responsibilities

1. Network Development & Expansion

  • Build a functional network of active farmers, cooperatives, and aggregators from scratch.
  • Identify and register reliable farmers across target crops and regions.
  • Create and maintain a verified database of farmers with up-to-date information on crops, acreage, and harvest timelines.
  • Conduct rapid field assessments to identify high-potential clusters and onboarding opportunities.

2. Market Sourcing & Transaction Facilitation

  • Respond promptly to buyer requests by sourcing farmers with the required produce (e.g., soybeans, maize, cassava).
  • Coordinate aggregation, quality verification, and logistics to ensure smooth transactions.
  • Work closely with the Marketplace Team to match supply with demand and ensure transactions close quickly.
  • Track transaction performance (volume, value, quality, delivery timelines).

3. Farmer Engagement & Relationship Management

  • Build strong, trust-based relationships with farmers and cooperatives.
  • Serve as the main point of contact between the client and its farmer network.
  • Communicate market opportunities, input programs, and training initiatives.
  • Ensure farmers understand contract terms, quality standards, and delivery expectations.

4. Data & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate farmer records, produce availability, and transaction details.
  • Prepare concise weekly reports showing new farmer sign-ups, ongoing transactions, and issues encountered.
  • Collect photos, GPS data, and testimonies from field activities for documentation.

5. Training & Support Coordination

  • Identify training needs among farmers and support planning of field demonstrations and group sessions.
  • Work with project teams to disseminate best practices and extension content.
  • Identify and mentor lead farmers or aggregators to expand coverage.

Qualifications & Experience

  • ND/HND/Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, or related field.
  • 3–4years' experience in farmer mobilization, aggregation, or produce sourcing (e.g., for processors, off-takers, or commodity buyers).
  • Proven ability to build networks from scratch and deliver measurable results under tight timelines.
  • Familiarity with crop value chains (especially soybean, maize, cassava, plantain, and vegetables).
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Fluency in English and Hausa.
  • Basic proficiency with smartphones, WhatsApp, and digital data collection tools.
  • Must be energetic, proactive, self-driven, and comfortable working independently in the field.
