Overview:

Inuka is working with a renewable energy company to recruit an Associate Vice President – Government Relations based in Abuja. The role will lead government engagement, policy advocacy, and regulatory alignment to support business growth and strengthen the company's positioning in Nigeria's energy transition.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain senior-level relationships with government bodies, regulators, and state authorities.
  • Represent the company in policy forums, regulatory hearings, and high-level stakeholder engagements.
  • Monitor policy and regulatory developments, providing strategic intelligence to leadership.
  • Design and deliver advocacy strategies promoting renewable energy and private sector participation.
  • Lead engagement with multilateral and bilateral institutions to support partnerships and growth.
  • Support resolution of regulatory and permitting matters affecting operations.
  • Advise leadership on political, policy, and sector dynamics across Nigeria and West Africa.
  • Coordinate external positioning with Legal, Compliance, Operations, and Communications teams.
  • Develop policy briefs, thought leadership materials, and government engagement reports.
  • Manage government-facing communications during sensitive or high-risk situations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Law, Economics, International Relations, or related field.
  • 10+ years' experience in government relations, public affairs, or regulatory roles.
  • Proven track record engaging senior government officials and influencing policy outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of Nigeria's power sector and distributed energy landscape.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Fluency in English; French or local language capability is an advantage.
