Role Overview

The
Vice President of Strategic Marketing
is a senior leadership role responsible for defining and executing TEDxMaitama's global marketing vision. This role sits at the intersection of brand, growth, storytelling, partnerships, and audience development—ensuring TEDxMaitama remains culturally relevant, globally visible, and strategically positioned.

The VP will lead the development of integrated marketing strategies that drive audience growth, sponsor value, media visibility, and long-term brand equity across all platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Develop and own TEDxMaitama's long-term marketing and brand strategy aligned with organizational goals
• Position TEDxMaitama as a premium, future-facing thought leadership platform in Africa and globally
• Translate vision into actionable marketing roadmaps with measurable impact

Brand & Storytelling

• Oversee brand narrative, messaging frameworks, and campaign themes across events and digital platforms
• Ensure brand consistency, tone, and visual identity across all touchpoints
• Lead flagship campaigns around conferences, salons, speakers, and special initiatives

Growth & Audience Development

• Drive audience acquisition, engagement, and retention across social media, YouTube, email, and community platforms
• Use data and insights to refine targeting, content performance, and growth strategies
• Identify new channels and innovative formats for reach and impact

Partnerships & Commercial Marketing

• Collaborate with sponsorship and partnerships teams to create high-value marketing assets for partners
• Design co-branded campaigns that deliver visibility, credibility, and ROI for sponsors
• Support revenue-generating initiatives through strategic marketing execution

Digital, Media & PR

• Oversee digital marketing, content distribution, PR, and media relations
• Lead strategies for earned media, thought leadership placements, and influencer collaborations
• Manage crisis communication and reputation management when required

Team Leadership & Collaboration

• Lead, mentor, and coordinate marketing, communications, content, and creative teams
• Work cross-functionally with operations, partnerships, programming, and community teams
• Set performance standards, KPIs, and accountability structures

Required Qualifications

• 8–12+ years of experience in strategic marketing, brand leadership, or communications
• Proven leadership experience in high-growth, media, event, or purpose-driven organizations
• Strong understanding of digital marketing, content ecosystems, and audience growth strategies
• Experience working with senior stakeholders, partners, and cross-functional teams
• Exceptional storytelling, strategic thinking, and execution capabilities

Preferred Experience

• Experience with global brands, conferences, media platforms, or cultural institutions
• Background in sponsorship marketing, partnerships, or ecosystem building
• Familiarity with African markets and global audiences
• Experience scaling communities, platforms, or movements
