Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Drilling Engineer to join our team in Lagos, Nigeria. As a Senior Drilling Engineer, you will play a crucial role in planning, designing, and overseeing drilling operations for both offshore and onshore projects.

  • Develop and optimize drilling programs and well designs to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the drilling team throughout all phases of well construction
  • Analyze and interpret geological and geophysical data to make informed decisions on drilling strategies
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to address complex drilling challenges and implement innovative solutions
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop contingency plans for potential drilling issues
  • Monitor and evaluate drilling performance, recommending improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce non-productive time
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and local regulations
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and presentations for management and stakeholders
  • Mentor and train junior drilling engineers to foster their professional development
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent certification
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in drilling engineering, including offshore and onshore operations
  • Languages : English and French an added value 
  • Advanced knowledge of drilling engineering principles and practices
  • Proficiency in drilling software and simulation tools
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • In-depth knowledge of drilling technologies and equipment
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations
  • Thorough understanding of well control and safety procedures
  • Proven track record of successful well planning and execution
  • Detail-oriented approach with strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Willingness to travel to various project sites as required
