Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Cardiologist to join a reputable healthcare facility in Lagos. The ideal candidate must be a recent fellowship holder with strong clinical expertise in diagnosing, treating, and preventing cardiovascular diseases. This role requires excellent diagnostic skills, hands-on experience with cardiovascular procedures, and the ability to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced medical environment.

Key Responsibilities 1. Clinical Assessment & Patient Care
  • Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, including medical history taking and physical examinations.

  • Diagnose a wide range of cardiovascular conditions such as hypertension, arrhythmias, coronary artery disease, and heart failure.

  • Provide emergency care for acute cardiac conditions when required.

2. Diagnostic Testing & Interpretation
  • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests including:

    • ECGs

    • Echocardiograms

    • Stress tests

    • Cardiac CT/MRI (where available)

    • Holter monitoring

  • Monitor and evaluate patient test results to ensure timely and accurate diagnosis.

3. Treatment Planning & Management
  • Develop individualized treatment and management plans for patients based on clinical findings.

  • Prescribe medications appropriately and monitor patient response.

  • Provide guidance on diet, exercise, and lifestyle modifications to improve heart health.

  • Manage chronic cardiovascular diseases and follow patients through long-term care.

4. Cardiovascular Procedures
  • Perform non-invasive and invasive cardiac procedures (as applicable), such as:

    • Cardiac catheterization

    • Stress echocardiography

    • EKG interpretation

    • Other diagnostic/interventional procedures aligned with training

  • Work closely with cardiothoracic surgeons and other specialists for advanced interventions.

5. Patient Education & Counseling
  • Educate patients and their families on diagnosis, treatment options, risk factors, and preventive strategies.

  • Provide post-procedural guidance and support for long-term disease management.

6. Multidisciplinary Collaboration
  • Collaborate with nurses, primary care physicians, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated patient care.

  • Participate in clinical meetings, case discussions, and departmental reviews.

7. Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain detailed and accurate medical records in line with hospital policies and regulatory standards.

  • Prepare clinical reports, treatment summaries, and follow-up documentation.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • MBBS Degree from a recognized institution.

  • Fellowship in Cardiology (National Postgraduate Medical College, West African College of Physicians, or equivalent).

  • Minimum of 2 years post-fellowship clinical experience.

  • Valid practice license from Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).

  • Strong clinical and diagnostic competency in cardiology.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and handle emergency cardiovascular cases.

  • Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and physical stamina for procedures.
