An Arts and Design teacher helps students explore, understand, and express ideas through various visual and creative mediums. Your responsibilities include:

Key Responsibilities

  • Lesson Planning & Delivery
  • Develop engaging lesson plans aligned with the school curriculum.
  • Introduce students to art techniques (drawing, painting, sculpture, digital art, crafts, etc.).
  • Teach the elements and principles of design (color, shape, form, composition, balance, etc.).
  • Skill Development
  • Help students develop creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Guide students in proper use of art tools, materials, and technologies.
  • Foster an environment that encourages experimentation and self-expression.
  • Assessment & Evaluation
  • Assess students' artwork based on creativity, technique, understanding of concepts, and effort.
  • Provide constructive feedback that helps students improve their artistic skills.
  • Classroom & Materials Management
  • Maintain an organized, safe, and inspiring art classroom/studio.
  • Manage and inventory art supplies and equipment.
  • Ensure proper care and handling of art materials.
  • Student Support & Guidance
  • Support students with diverse artistic abilities and learning needs.
  • Encourage students to develop their own artistic style and portfolios, especially for higher education or competitions.
  • Project & Exhibition Coordination
  • Plan and supervise school art projects, exhibitions, or competitions.
  • Display student artwork around the school or at events.
  • Professional Development
  • Stay updated with new art trends, techniques, and digital tools.
  • Collaborate with other teachers to integrate art into other subjects (STEAM projects, cultural studies, history, etc.)
  • Cultural Appreciation & Awareness
  • Teach students about art history, local and global artists, and cultural influences.
  • Promote respect and appreciation for different forms of art and cultural expressions.
  • Teach digital design using software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Canva).
  • Lead clubs or extracurricular programs (art club, craft club, design club).
  • Prepare students for art examinations or external competitions.
