Job Description:

The Accountant at Precise Lighting is responsible for managing day-to-day financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and supporting compliance with accounting standards. The role goes beyond traditional accounting by involving hands-on inventory and shipment verification, ensuring financial integrity across departments, including Inventory, Procurement, and Logistics. This position is ideal for an analytical, detail-oriented professional with experience in accounting within inventory-heavy businesses.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Transaction Management

● Post and manage all financial transactions in the general ledger accurately and in a timely manner

● Process vendor invoices, employee reimbursements, and customer payments

● Reconcile bank statements, petty cash, and POS/till accounts monthly

● Monitor and update accounts receivable and payable

Inventory and Shipment Accounting

● Participate in the physical receiving of goods from both local and international suppliers

● Reconcile waybills, packing lists, and invoices with purchase orders

● Match physical inventory receipts with accounting records and report discrepancies ● Support monthly stock audits in collaboration with Inventory team

Financial Reporting & Documentation

  • Assist in preparing trial balances, profit & loss accounts, and balance sheets
  • Ensure proper documentation and file management of financial records for audits
  • Support Finance Officer in variance analysis and management reports

Cost Control & Budget Tracking

  • Monitor departmental expenses versus budget
  • Assist with tracking overheads and operational costs
  • Compute landed cost allocations for imported stock and provide cost analysis

Compliance & Internal Control Support

  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and accounting standards (e.g., IFRS/GAAP)
  • Prepare tax schedules and assist with VAT, PAYE, and WHT filings
  • Provide support during internal and external audits

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Liaise with Inventory, Procurement, and Logistics teams for financial accuracy
  • Provide reconciliations and payment updates to internal stakeholders
  • Escalate any irregularities that may impact financial accuracy to the Head of Finance

Qualifications:

  • BSc or HND in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role
  • Strong proficiency in QuickBooks and other accounting software (e.g., Excel, Sage, Zoho), and basic ERP systems
  • Experience in inventory-linked accounting or retail/wholesale environments is a strong advantage
  • Attention to detail, analytical mindset, and integrity
  • ACA/ACCA in progress (preferred but not mandatory)
