Job Summary:

Our client is seeking a The GIS and Remote Sensing Specialist who will be responsible for developing, managing, and analyzing spatial data to support environmental assessments, land-use planning, resource management, and monitoring programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect, compile, and manage spatial datasets from multiple sources, including GPS surveys, satellite imagery, and public databases.
  • Develop and maintain GIS databases, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and data integrity.
  • Perform spatial analysis, terrain modeling, and spatial statistics to support environmental and engineering studies.
  • Generate high-quality thematic maps for Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMP), and baseline surveys.
  • Integrate GIS with field data collection tools (e.g., ArcGIS Field Maps, Collector, QField).
  • Acquire and process satellite, aerial, or drone imagery for land cover classification, vegetation analysis, and environmental monitoring.
  • Conduct change detection analysis to assess impacts on land use, vegetation, or water bodies.
  • Utilize multispectral and hyperspectral imagery to analyze soil, vegetation health, and hydrological patterns.
  • Support environmental monitoring by applying remote sensing techniques for deforestation, erosion, pollution, or habitat degradation tracking.
  • Provide GIS and remote sensing input for EIA, ESIA, and Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) projects.
  • Support hydrology, biodiversity, and land-use specialists with spatial data for environmental modeling and resource mapping.
  • Assist in defining project areas of influence (AOI), buffer zones, and risk assessment maps.
  • Contribute to spatial components of disaster risk management and climate change adaptation studies.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geoinformatics, Environmental Science, Remote Sensing, or related discipline (Master's preferred).
  • Minimum of 5–8 years of professional experience in GIS and remote sensing applications.
  • Proven expertise with ArcGIS (Desktop/Pro/Online), QGIS, ERDAS Imagine, ENVI, or Google Earth Engine.
  • Experience with spatial database management (PostGIS, SQL, or geodatabases).
  • Familiarity with UAV (drone) data acquisition and photogrammetry software (Pix4D, Agisoft Metashape) is an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of programming/scripting languages such as Python or R for spatial data automation.
  • Experience supporting EIA/ESIA, land use planning, or natural resource management projects.
