Junior Accountant (Bookkeeper)
Location: Port Harcourt, Nigeria Industry: Manufacturing (Paints & Coatings)
We are hiring an experienced Junior Accountant/Bookkeeper to manage the complete day-to-day financial operations of a fast-growing manufacturing company specializing in paints and industrial coatings.
Key Responsibilities
- Record all daily transactions (sales, purchases, receipts, payments) in accounting software and maintain General Ledger & subsidiary ledgers.
- Manage full-cycle Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable including supplier payments and credit control.
- Track raw materials (pigments, resins, solvents), WIP, and finished goods inventory; perform regular stock counts and variance analysis.
- Accurately capture production costs (direct materials, labor, overheads) for proper product costing.
- Handle petty cash, expense claims, daily/monthly bank reconciliations.
- Process payroll and statutory deductions (PAYE, Pension, etc.)
- Prepare and file monthly VAT returns and support CIT filings with FIRS compliance.
- Prepare weekly/monthly reports: cash flow, debtor/creditor aging, P&L, Balance Sheet, budget vs actual.
- Organize all financial documents for internal and external audits.
Requirements
- HND/B.Sc in Accounting.
- 2-3+ years bookkeeping experience, preferably manufacturing and inventory-intensive environment.
- Professional certification (ICAN ATS, ACA in view, ACCA foundation) is a strong advantage.
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks or similar ERP systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Solid knowledge of Nigerian tax laws (VAT, PAYE, CIT) and accounting standards.
- High accuracy, attention to detail, integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Working Hours: Monday–Friday 8 AM–5 PM, Saturday 9 AM–2 PM.
- Workplace: Office at manufacturing facility.
