The Control Systems Engineer will play a core role in developing the brain and movement logic of these systems.

Role Overview

We are hiring a Control Systems Engineer to design, implement and optimize advanced control algorithms for robotic arms and automation systems. You will work on dynamic modeling, motion control, feedback systems and real time tuning. Your work ensures that Amylase robotics operate smoothly, safely and reliably across clinical and industrial environments. This role requires strong mathematical thinking, hands on hardware experience and the ability to translate abstract models into precise physical motion.

Responsibilities

Control Architecture

  • Design control algorithms including PID, model predictive control and adaptive control systems.
  • Build dynamic models and simulations for robotic arms and automated mechanisms.
  • Develop trajectory generation and motion planning functions.

Real Time System Development

  • Implement controllers on embedded systems using C++, Python or MATLAB.
  • Integrate actuators, sensors and microcontrollers into robust control loops.
  • Ensure deterministic timing for safety critical clinical automation.

Hardware Integration

  • Work with robotics and mechatronics teams to calibrate motors and actuators.
  • Tune control parameters for accuracy, stability and low latency.
  • Support hardware debugging, signal processing and noise reduction.

Safety and Validation

  • Conduct system level testing including stress tests, precision validation and safety assessments.
  • Document control logic, algorithms, tuning workflows and integration methods.

Cross Team Collaboration

  • Partner with robotics and biomechanical engineers to refine motion profiles.
  • Work with software teams to integrate control systems into the broader Amylase platform.

Qualifications

Required

  • Degree in Control Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics or similar.
  • Strong understanding of classical and modern control theory.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Simulink, Python or C++ for control system development.
  • Experience working with motors, actuators, encoders and embedded systems.
  • Experience tuning control loops for physical hardware.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of robotic arm kinematics and dynamics.
  • Experience with ROS or ROS2.
  • Familiarity with medical device safety standards.
  • Experience in real time operating systems or firmware development.
