Role

The Human Resource Officer is responsible for providing support in the various human resource functions, which include recruitment, staffing, training and development, performance monitoring. Essentially involved in the entire employee lifecycle within the organization, from recruitment to offboarding while ensuring compliance with labour laws, support employee development, and foster a positive workplace culture within the company's values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support to HR Manager and staff to develop the skills and capabilities of staff, cultivate a healthy work environment.
  • Provide information and assistance to staff, Managers on human resource and work-related issues.
  • Recruitment and Onboarding: Assisting with the hiring process, including job descriptions, posting advertisements, screening resumes, coordinating interviews, and facilitating new employee orientations. Welcome new employees to the organization by coordinating orientation, paperwork and settling.
  • Employee Relations and Welfare: Serving as a point of contact for employee queries, mediating disputes, addressing grievances, managing disciplinary procedures, and promoting health, safety, and general well-being in the workplace.
  • Compensation and Benefits Administration: Managing employee records, assisting with payroll processing, administering benefit programs (like health insurance and pensions), and reviews.
  • Training and Development: Identifying training needs, coordinating and sometimes delivering training and development programs, and managing performance evaluations and career planning efforts.
  • Compliance and Policy Implementation: Interpreting and advising on employment law, developing and implementing HR policies and procedures, and ensuring all practices adhere to legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Updating and implementing HR policies, and ensuring the organization complies with labor laws and safety regulations.
  • Data Management and Records: Maintaining accurate and confidential employee records, utilizing HR information systems (HRIS) and data analysis to inform decisions, and generating reports for management.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and file all necessary HR documents. Performing file audit to ensure all required employee documents are collected and filed. Maintaining electronic and manual filing systems.
  • Administrative support: Provide general administrative support to the HR department, handle employee inquiries, and help organize training sessions or company events.
  • Performance management: Implementing performance management processes, including performance evaluations and improvement plans. Assist in periodic appraisals to assess employee performance
  • Completing Exit clearance paperwork and assisting with exit interviews
  • Other duties as assigned by the HR Manager and Management

Qualifications/Experience

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in Management, relevant or a related field
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in an HR or administrative position.
  • Professional Certifications: Qualifications from professional bodies will be an advantage.

Career Path

The HR Officer role is typically an entry to middle-level generalist position. With experience, further education, and professional development, an HR officer can advance to an HR Manager, HR Business Partner, or a specialized role such as a Compensation and Benefits Manager or Training Manager, eventually reaching director-level positions
