Who We Are Looking For...

• You are an accounting and finance expert with professional certifications like ACA, CITN, and other relevant accounting qualifications.
• You are able to manage complex tax situations, including deductions, withholdings, and remittances.
• You are a meticulous planner and analyst, capable of leading full audit engagements (risk assessment, planning, fieldwork, reporting) and reviewing financial statements for compliance and integrity.
• You possess excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, allowing you to monitor regulatory changes, assess their impact, and implement necessary policy adjustments.
• You are a highly effective communicator and advisor, capable of providing expert tax and audit advisory support to management and fostering strong relationships with regulatory bodies.

Key Responsibilities...

• You will oversee and manage all tax compliance activities, including the preparation, review, and timely filing of federal, state, and local tax returns in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• You will ensure accurate tax deductions, withholdings, and remittances for vendors and third-party service providers, maintaining full compliance with applicable tax laws.
• You will plan, lead, and execute internal audit engagements, including risk assessment, audit planning, fieldwork, and reporting, to ensure the effectiveness of internal controls and adherence to company policies.
• You will review and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy, integrity, and compliance with applicable accounting standards and statutory regulations.
• You will provide expert tax and audit advisory support to management and key stakeholders, offering insights on compliance, risk mitigation, and strategic financial decisions.
• You will develop and maintain strong relationships with regulatory and tax authorities, including the Lagos Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) and Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), ensuring timely correspondence and resolution of tax matters.
• You will monitor changes in tax and audit regulations, assess their impact on the organization, and implement appropriate policy or process adjustments.
• You will support process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance within tax and audit functions.

What Success Looks Like...

• Achieving zero penalties due to late or inaccurate filing of federal, state, and local tax returns, and maintaining full compliance on all vendor withholding and remittance obligations.
• Successfully leading and completing all planned internal audit engagements on time, with reports that identify actionable risks and demonstrate the effectiveness of internal controls.
• Ensuring all financial statements reviewed are accurate and prepared in full compliance with applicable accounting standards.
• Providing proactive tax and audit advisory insights that demonstrably lead to identified tax savings opportunities or mitigated financial risk.

To be considered for this role you should have...

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Mandatory possession of ACA, CITN, and any other relevant accounting certifications.
• Minimum of 3-7 years' experience in tax and audit related functions.
• Strong knowledge of tax laws and regulations, with the ability to apply them to complex situations.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
