Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Post-NYSC Medical Officer located in Lagos. The Medical Officer will provide comprehensive clinical care, conduct patient assessments, make diagnoses, and deliver evidence-based treatment. The role includes supporting emergency and inpatient care, collaborating with consultants, maintaining accurate medical documentation, and ensuring adherence to best clinical practices. The position follows a rotating shift schedule shared with other medical officers.

Key Responsibilities


• Provide direct clinical care, including patient evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow-up.


• Support emergency, outpatient, and inpatient services, including patient admission, review, and discharge.


• Assist consultants and specialists during procedures, ward rounds, and clinical operations.


• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in line with medical, legal, and ethical standards.


• Ensure strict adherence to clinical protocols, infection control practices, and patient safety measures.


• Participate in medical audits, clinical meetings, morbidity/mortality reviews, and quality improvement activities.


• Coordinate with nurses, laboratory personnel, pharmacists, and other departments to ensure seamless patient care.


• Provide patient and family education, counselling, and support.


• Respond promptly to medical emergencies and participate fully in shift rotations.


• Comply with Nigerian medical regulations, ethical guidelines, and internal hospital policies.

Requirements


• Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from a recognised institution.


• Valid practising license from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).


• Post-NYSC doctor with a minimum of one year experience.


• Strong clinical reasoning skills and familiarity with standard medical procedures.


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; effective team collaboration.


• High level of professionalism, empathy, and commitment to patient-centred care.


• Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment.


• Added advantage: BLS/ACLS certification; experience in emergency medicine, critical care, or surgical support.
