Senior Application Support Engineer

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Application Support Engineer to provide second- and third-level application support, manage application enhancements, and ensure optimal performance of SQL Server databases.

The successful candidate will provide on-site, hands-on support for critical business applications, including SUN Financial Systems, EAM (Contracts & Procurement System), Office 365, ShareFile, and Q&A Excel. They will also work on optimizing business processes, implementing system improvements, and managing application reconfigurations based on technical and user requirements.

This role requires close collaboration with business users, IT teams, and vendors to ensure system availability, compliance, and efficiency across Lagos and remote locations as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Application Support & Administration

• Provide second- and third-level support for business-critical applications, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve technical issues across SUN Financial Systems, EAM, SharePoint, and Office 365.
• Monitor system performance, identify inefficiencies, and implement enhancements.
• Ensure smooth system deployments and upgrades with minimal disruption to business operations.
• Maintain SQL Server databases, optimizing queries, stored procedures, and indexing for performance improvements.

Business Process Optimization & Application Enhancements

• Design, implement, and enhance business applications to improve operational efficiency.
• Work with business stakeholders to identify process bottlenecks and recommend IT-driven solutions.
• Leverage SharePoint solutions for workflow automation and business process improvements.
• Assist in reconfiguring or redesigning applications based on evolving business needs.

Change Management & Documentation

• Support inter-application changes, ensuring clear communication with stakeholders.
• Maintain technical documentation, including system configurations, troubleshooting guides, and best practices.
• Prepare and educate users on system upgrades, new features, and security updates.

User Support & Training

• Manage the helpdesk function for Finance Systems, EAM, SharePoint, ShareFile, and OneDrive, ensuring timely resolution of user issues.
• Develop and conduct training sessions to improve user adoption and proficiency.
• Assist in defining and managing user access controls and security policies.

System Upgrades & Architecture

• Support system architecture upgrades, version updates, and integrations.
• Ensure compliance with IT security standards and data governance policies.
• Work closely with vendors and development teams for troubleshooting and long-term application improvements.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's degree or HND in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Strong proficiency in SQL Server, including query optimization, stored procedures, performance tuning, and database administration.
• Hands-on experience providing second- and third-level application support for business-critical systems.
• Expertise in SUN Financial Systems and EAM implementation, configuration, and administration.
• Experience with Q&A Reporting and its integration with SUN Financial Systems.
• Ability to leverage SharePoint for business process automation and document management.
• Familiarity with procurement systems administration.
• Strong experience in business process management, system enhancements, and change management.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment while handling multiple projects.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)

1. Experience in the oil and gas industry.

2. Knowledge of Office 365 tools, including SharePoint and OneDrive.

3. Familiarity with system architecture upgrades, security policies, and IT compliance.
