Overview of the Role:
We are looking for a Procurement Officer who would be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing high-quality agricultural inputs, equipment, and services at competitive prices while ensuring timely delivery to support operations. The role requires a strong understanding of importation and clearing of agricultural equipment. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, cost-conscious, and able to build reliable relationships with farmers, vendors, and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, evaluate, and manage reliable suppliers, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
  • Source, evaluate, and negotiate with local suppliers for the purchase of processing equipment, spare parts, and other goods and services.
  • Ensure cost-effective, timely, and quality procurement in line with company policies and operational requirements.
  • Maintain an updated supplier database and develop long-term supplier relationships.
  • Have vast knowledge on importation and custom laws in Nigeria.
  • Monitor inventory levels and forecast procurement needs in alignment with hub operations teams.
  • Support in processing documentation for imported equipment, including invoices, shipping documents, and customs paperwork.
  • Liaise with clearing agents, shipping companies, and relevant government agencies to facilitate smooth clearance of imported items.
  • Track import shipments, ensuring timely arrival, clearance, and delivery to designated hubs or storage facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical sourcing practices.
  • Conduct market research and track price trends of agricultural commodities and inputs.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier performance.
  • Support cost reduction initiatives and identify opportunities for value addition.
  • Provide technical and market intelligence on equipment specifications, innovations, and supplier performance.
  • Prepare procurement reports for management review.

**Qualifications and Skills:

Education:**
Bachelor's degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, or related field.

Experience:
2–4 years' proven experience as a Procurement Officer, preferably in the agricultural sector.

Strong knowledge of agricultural equipment, importation and custom clearing.

Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and procurement software/ERP systems.

Strong negotiation, contract management, and vendor management skills.

Knowledge of supply chain processes, importation, and agricultural value chains.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.
