Join our team at 54 Collective as a Data Science Lead and play a key role in supporting our portfolio startups in leveraging data and analytics to drive growth and innovation.

About the Role
  • Lead the development of machine learning models and data-driven solutions for our portfolio companies.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to enhance the use of data science and ML, and have a strategic impact on their overall businesses.
  • Work closely with portfolio company founders and CTOs to understand their business needs and identify opportunities for using data and analytics.
Responsibilities
  • Engage with our portfolio companies to support their data science ambitions and identify opportunities for using data and algorithms in novel ways.
  • Lead the development of machine learning models and other data-driven solutions for portfolio companies.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to enhance the use of data science and ML, and have a strategic impact on their overall businesses.
  • Work with startups across the 54 Collective portfolio to identify their data science capability gaps.
Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of data science, statistical analysis, and data engineering.
  • Experience with statistical learning methods and working with large, complex, and unclean datasets.
  • Proficiency in coding skills in a language suitable for data science, preferably Python.
  • Ability to switch between hands-on execution and strategic advice, as needed.
  • Comfortable with deploying data services and infrastructure to production systems.
  • High emotional intelligence and empathy for our founders and their teams, as well as for your fellow colleagues in the 54 Collective operations team.
  • Organized with a strong attention to detail and an ability to balance detail with the big picture.
  • Deep passion for defining and solving loosely defined problems.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • At least 5 years of experience, especially deploying commercial data science/ML projects and working collaboratively with team members.
