DevOps Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Cloud Operations Specialist to drive our team's success in the African market.

About the Role:

The ideal candidate will be passionate about technology, have excellent communication and coordination skills, and be agile enough to wear a technical hat and manage operations simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and Implement: Plan the team structure, activities, and involvement in project management activities. Define and set development, test, release, update, and support processes for DevOps operation.
  • Tech Review and Troubleshooting: Have the technical skill to review, verify, and validate the software code developed in the project. Troubleshooting techniques and fixing the code bugs.
  • Automation and Implementation: Encouraging and building automated processes wherever possible. Implementing various development, testing, automation tools, and IT infrastructure.
  • Stakeholder Management: Managing stakeholders and external interfaces. Setting up tools and required infrastructure.
  • Customer Understanding: Understanding customer requirements and project KPIs.
  • Cybersecurity Measures: Identifying and deploying cybersecurity measures by continuously performing vulnerability assessment and risk management.
  • CI/CD Tools: Selecting and deploying appropriate CI/CD tools. Collaboration: Coordination and communication within the team and with customers.
  • Continuous Improvement: Strive for continuous improvement and build continuous integration, continuous development, and constant deployment pipeline (CI/CD Pipeline).
  • Monitoring and Measuring: Monitoring and measuring customer experience and KPIs.
  • Process Management: Monitoring the processes during the entire lifecycle for its adherence and updating or creating new processes for improvement and minimizing the wastage.
  • Incident Management: Incidence management and root cause analysis.
  • Reporting: Managing periodic reporting on the progress to the management and the customer.
Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

Education and Experience:
  • BSc in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field.
  • At least 2 years' experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar software engineering role.
  • Experience developing engineering applications for a large corporation.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes(AKS), Ansible, Terraform, Docker, Linux Sys Admin (RHEL, Ubuntu, Alpine), Azure Networking, Azure Application Gateway, Azure DevOps, CI/CD, and Jenkins.
  • Demonstrable experience with Microsoft Azure Platform As A Service (PaaS) products such as Azure SQL, AppServices, Logic Apps, Functions, and other Serverless services.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Identity and Access Management products including Azure AD or AD B2C.
  • Knowledge of PowerShell, Git, ARM templates, and deployment automation.
  • Current understanding of best practices regarding system security measures.
  • Advanced education and application of business analysis techniques and strategy.
  • Proficient with git and git workflows.
  • Good knowledge of Ruby or Python.
  • Working knowledge of databases and SQL.
  • Azure DevOps Engineer Certification is an added advantage.
