About the Role:

We are seeking a highly experienced Chief Financial Strategist to join our team. As a strategic leader, you will oversee all financial aspects of the firm, driving financial growth, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing guidance to the executive team.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Strategy: Develop and implement the firm's financial strategy in alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process and provide financial forecasts for strategic decision-making.
  • Financial Performance: Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, and recommend corrective actions as needed.
  • Market Analysis: Analyze market trends and business opportunities to identify growth areas and potential risks.
  • Leadership: Provide strong leadership to the finance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Goal Setting: Set clear goals and objectives for the finance department and ensure effective execution.
  • Mentorship: Mentor and develop finance staff, promoting professional growth and succession planning.
  • Cash Flow Management: Manage cash flow and liquidity to ensure the firm's financial stability and optimize working capital.
  • Banking Relationships: Oversee relationships with financial institutions, manage banking relationships, and evaluate investment opportunities.
  • Risk Management: Monitor and manage foreign exchange risks and interest rate exposure.
  • Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and presentations for executive management and the board of directors.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis to provide insights into business performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Presentation Skills: Present financial results and strategic recommendations to the executive team and stakeholders.
  • Policy Enforcement: Establish and enforce financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Financial Risk Management: Identify and manage financial risks, implementing strategies to mitigate potential challenges.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to financial and regulatory requirements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including clients, investors, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Business Development: Contribute to business development efforts by presenting financial information to clients during engagements.
  • Communication: Communicate financial strategy, results, and risks effectively to a wide range of audiences.
  • Financial Systems: Evaluate and implement financial systems and technologies to streamline processes, enhance data accuracy, and improve efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Education: A first degree in Finance or Accounting is required.
  • Experience: Proven experience with treasury tools (T-bills, fixed deposits, money market, local and foreign stock market, bonds, derivatives, hedging, etc.) is essential.
  • Certification: Relevant finance certification (ICAN/ACCA/CFA) is mandatory.
  • Post-Graduate Qualification: A post-graduate qualification in a related field is desirable.
  • Years of Experience: No less than 15 years of relevant experience in a similar role is required.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Experience interacting with C-Suite executives from different backgrounds is necessary.
  • Accounting Knowledge: Demonstrated understanding of accounting principles and internal controls is essential.
  • Technical Skills: Strong MS Excel and financial modelling skills are required.
  • Data Validation: Knowledge of procedural controls and data validation techniques is necessary.
  • Financial Acumen: A thorough understanding of derivatives, hedging, investments, bank account management, and international funds flows is essential.
  • Analytical Thinking: An analytical thinker with ability to conduct research, data analysis, and resolve complex problems is required.
