Commodities Trading Director

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Head of Commodities to lead our commodities trading business. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the global agricultural commodities market, commodities aggregation, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record of driving business growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement the company's commodities trading strategy to achieve business objectives.
• Establish relationships with farmers, aggregators, and other suppliers.
• Source high-quality commodities that meet customer requirements and specifications.
• Negotiate prices with suppliers.
• Manage logistics, including transportation, storage, and handling.
• Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges.
• Build and maintain relationships with customers.
• Develop and implement sales strategies.
• Monitor market competitiveness.
• Manage the supply chain.
• Identify and manage risks.
• Manage costs, including procurement, logistics, and operational costs.

Leadership and Team Management:

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing a team of commodities traders, analysts, and support staff. This includes:

• Leveraging exceptional leadership skills to motivate and direct the team towards achieving business objectives.
• Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, buyers, and logistics providers.
• Identifying and capitalizing on market opportunities to drive business growth and profitability.
• Managing and mitigating market risks, including price, currency, and logistics risks.

Portfolio Management:

The ideal candidate will have experience in developing and managing the company's commodities portfolio, including sourcing, trading, and delivery of commodities. This includes:

• Collaborating with other departments, including finance, logistics, and operations, to ensure seamless execution of commodities trading activities.
• Providing market insights and intelligence to inform business decisions.
• Developing and managing the department's budget and ensuring cost-effective operations.
