Job Overview
The Database Management Lead will oversee the bank's database infrastructure, ensuring data integrity, security, availability, and optimal performance. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining database systems, as well as ensuring compliance with regulatory and security standards.

Main Responsibilities:
1. Design, implement, and maintain database systems to ensure high availability and security.
2. Optimize database performance to support business operations.
3. Develop and enforce database security policies to prevent unauthorized access and data breaches.
4. Implement robust backup, disaster recovery, and failover strategies to safeguard critical data.
5. Collaborate with IT, MIS, and business teams to support data-driven decision-making.
6. Ensure compliance with data protection regulations, industry standards, and internal policies.
7. Monitor database health, troubleshoot issues, and conduct performance tuning.

Requirements:
i. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Database Management, or a related field.
ii. Membership in relevant professional bodies such as the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) is an advantage.
iii. Certifications in database management (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or AWS Database Specialty) are preferred.
Experience: 5+ years of experience in database administration, preferably in a banking or financial institution.

Key Skills:
- Expertise in relational database management systems (RDBMS) such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
- Strong understanding of database security, encryption, and access controls.
- Proficiency in backup and disaster recovery planning.
- Experience with database performance tuning and query optimization.
