The Transportation Coordinator at Akwa Ibom Transport Company plays a vital role in ensuring seamless customer experiences by assisting passengers with booking tickets for travel. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to meeting customer needs.
Key Responsibilities- Ticket Booking:
- Assist customers in booking tickets for their desired destinations using the AKTC ticketing system.
- Process bookings, issue tickets, and confirm reservations.
- Ensure that customer information and travel details are accurately captured in the system.
- Customer Service:
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries related to travel schedules, available routes, fares, and ticket availability.
- Help passengers with their seating preferences and any special travel requests.
- Resolve customer complaints, escalating issues when necessary to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Financial Transactions:
- Handle cash and electronic payments for ticket sales, ensuring accurate receipts and records.
- Balance the cash register at the end of each shift and report any discrepancies to the supervisor.
- Ensure proper handling of money, tickets, and related documents.
- Operational Support:
- Collaborate with the dispatch team to ensure timely bus departures and correct seating arrangements for passengers.
- Coordinate with the operations team regarding any schedule changes, cancellations, or delays, and communicate these updates to customers.
- Keep records of daily bookings and prepare reports on ticket sales, seat occupancy, and customer feedback.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all company policies and procedures, particularly regarding ticketing, and passenger safety.
- Ensure that passengers are informed of safety procedures and regulations during their travel.
- Monitor customer flow to avoid overbooking or seating issues.
- Administrative Duties:
- Maintain an organized and up-to-date filing system for ticket sales, customer records, and travel schedules.
- Help maintain a clean and orderly booking office, brochures, and travel information are readily available for customers.
- Education:
- Minimum of SSCE/WAEC. A diploma or degree in Business Administration, Customer Service, or related fields is an advantage.
- Experience:
- Prior experience in customer service or ticketing in a transport or hospitality environment is preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good knowledge of ticketing systems and basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, ticketing software).
- Ability to handle cash and electronic payments accurately.
- Problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
The role of a Transportation Coordinator involves working in a busy transport terminal, handling multiple customers simultaneously, and being on your feet for extended periods. Shift work may be required, including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends.
