About the Role

We're seeking a dynamic and strategic Head of Commercial to drive business growth and revenue expansion across our seven business lines — Philanthropy, Professional Services, Trade & Commerce, Technology, Food Systems, Learning & Development, and Agriculture.

The ideal candidate will combine strong commercial insight with financial and strategic acumen, possessing a proven track record in business development, sales leadership, and market expansion. This role requires a hands-on professional with the ability to open and close deals, develop partnerships, and lead high-performing teams to achieve measurable results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute the commercial strategy for the organization across all business units.
  • Identify, pursue, and convert new business opportunities across multiple sectors.
  • Develop and implement sales and growth strategies to achieve revenue targets.
  • Lead proposal development, client presentations, negotiations, and deal closures.
  • Analyse market and financial data to guide decision-making and optimize profitability.
  • Build and manage strategic partnerships, alliances, and collaborations.
  • Drive business development initiatives for the foundation arm, including grants and partnership acquisition.
  • Oversee the commercial performance of products, services, and initiatives across units.
  • Provide leadership to the commercial team, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic objectives.
  • Work closely with the executive team to identify growth areas and drive sustainable profitability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • MBA, CFA, or ACCA certification is an added advantage.
  • 5–8 years of proven experience in business development, sales, or commercial strategy roles.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills with the ability to interpret market trends and data.
  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Demonstrated success in leading teams, managing complex deals, and expanding market reach.
  • A growth mindset and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, multi-sector environment.
