Maintenance Technician

JOB TITLE / DESIGNATION: Mechanical Technician (Manpower Contract Role)
LOCATION: All Stations, UPC & FLB
DEPARTMENT: Maintenance

DIRECTLY SUPERVISES: Nil

Role Summary

The Mechanical Technician is responsible for ensuring optimal functionality of mechanical systems and machinery across our UPS & FLB stations. The role involves conducting preventive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment failures, and ensuring operational efficiency and safety compliance within the terminal.

Key Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain machinery.
• Devise preventative measures to avoid machine downtime.
• Devise safety plans that comply with workplace safety laws.
• Troubleshoot failure causes and control effects.
• Keep meticulous records of machine service history.
• Analyze machine test results and make adjustments to meet company specifications.
• Run tests, data logging, and complete reports.
• Monitor and service systems.

Key Skills and Qualifications

Education:

• OND/HND/University degree/ diploma or technical/vocational certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, or related field.
• Associate or bachelor's degree in engineering/technical disciplines is an advantage.

Experience:

• 2+ years of hands-on maintenance experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or heavy industrial settings.

Safety & Compliance Skills:

• Strong knowledge of HSE standards in oil & gas operations.
• Hazard identification and risk assessment.
• Permit-to-Work (PTW) and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Knowledge of hazardous area equipment maintenance (Ex-rated equipment).
• Proven experience with rotating equipment, pumps, compressors, valves, and electrical systems.

Technical Skills:

• Mechanical maintenance (pumps, compressors, turbines, gearboxes).
• Electrical troubleshooting (motors, switchgear, PLCs, generators).
• Hydraulic and pneumatic system maintenance.
• Instrumentation & control systems (sensors, transmitters, DCS/PLC).
• Preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance.

Soft Skills:

• Problem-solving and troubleshooting mindset.
• Attention to detail and strong technical accuracy.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Teamwork and effective communication with engineers and operators.
• Adaptability to shift work rotation, or extended hours.
