Position: Senior Mechanical Engineer

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead mechanical and piping engineering activities across design, construction, and commissioning stages of projects. The role focuses on providing technical expertise, ensuring quality assurance, and supporting project teams in delivering safe and cost-effective engineering solutions.

This is a senior technical role that focuses on providing advanced mechanical engineering expertise, leading design activities, and ensuring engineering integrity across all project phases. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will take ownership of mechanical design deliverables, support multidisciplinary teams during project execution, and collaborate closely with process, piping, and construction teams to ensure high-quality and efficient delivery. The role also involves providing technical input during bids and project proposals, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring compliance with international mechanical and piping standards.

Candidates with strong experience in mechanical systems design, static and rotating equipment, and pipeline/piping engineering will be highly valuable.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Oversight

  • Review and approve mechanical and piping design deliverables, specifications, and calculations.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards (ASME, API, ISO, IEC, DNV, etc.).
  • Provide senior-level expertise in rotating/static equipment design, stress analysis, and mechanical system integration.
  • Utilize digital engineering and simulation tools to enhance design efficiency and accuracy.
  • Support pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for mechanical systems.

Project Execution & Coordination

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (process, piping, electrical, civil) to ensure design consistency.
  • Interface with clients, vendors, and contractors during design, procurement, and execution phases.
  • Participate in technical reviews, constructability assessments, and project risk evaluations.
  • Contribute to project schedules, budgets, and resourcing plans.

Quality, Safety & Innovation

  • Champion mechanical design safety and integrity management.
  • Implement QA/QC standards and ensure technical documentation accuracy.
  • Promote continuous improvement and adoption of innovative mechanical design solutions.

Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Metallurgical or Production Engineering may be considered).
  • COREN / NSE membership required.
  • International certification (IMechE, PMP) is an advantage.
  • Minimum 6–10 years of experience in mechanical design and EPC project execution.

Competencies/Skills

  • Strong command of AutoCAD and 3D modeling tools.
  • Solid understanding of piping, equipment design, and mechanical system operations.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor junior engineers.
  • Focused on innovation, teamwork, and results.
