JOB SUMMARY

The Hotel General Manager (GM) is the overall leader responsible for the strategic direction, daily operations, financial performance, service standards, and brand reputation of the hotel. The GM ensures exceptional guest experiences while maintaining profitability, operational efficiency, staff discipline, and full compliance with hotel policies and regulatory requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Leadership & Strategic Management

• Provide strong leadership and clear direction to all departments.

• Develop and implement hotel strategies aligned with ownership objectives.

• Uphold the hotel's vision, culture, values, and service philosophy.

• Represent the hotel professionally to partners, vendors, regulators, and the public.

1. Operational Oversight

• Oversee all hotel operations including front office, housekeeping, food & beverage, kitchen, security, maintenance, procurement, and administration.

• Ensure all departments comply with approved SOPs and service standards.

• Conduct regular operational audits, inspections, and walk-throughs.

• Ensure rooms, facilities, and public areas consistently meet quality standards.

1. Guest Experience & Brand Standards

• Champion a guest-first culture across all departments.

• Personally handle escalated guest complaints and service recovery.

• Monitor guest feedback, reviews, and satisfaction scores.

• Ensure consistent brand presentation, cleanliness, and professionalism.

1. Financial Management & Profitability

• Develop and manage the hotel's annual budget and forecasts.

• Monitor daily revenue, occupancy, ADR, and RevPAR.

• Control operational costs and minimize waste.

• Ensure strict cash control, POS/PMS compliance, and accurate reporting.

• Prevent revenue leakage, fraud, and asset misuse.

1. Human Resources & People Management

• Recruit, train, motivate, and retain high-performing staff.

• Set performance expectations and conduct appraisals.

• Enforce discipline, punctuality, grooming, and code of conduct.

• Develop training programs to improve service delivery.

• Foster a positive, accountable, and performance-driven work culture.

1. Sales, Marketing & Business Development

• Drive room sales, corporate bookings, events, and F&B revenue.

• Build relationships with travel agents, corporate clients, and partners.

• Oversee promotions, pricing strategies, and online presence.

• Monitor competitor activity and market trends.

• Approve procurement plans and supplier selection.

• Ensure inventory control, stock-taking, and cost efficiency.

• Safeguard hotel assets, equipment, and facilities.

• Oversee preventive maintenance schedules.

• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards.

• Oversee security operations and emergency preparedness.

• Manage risk, insurance, and incident reporting.

• Liaise with government authorities when required.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

• Relevant professional certifications are an added advantage.

Experience

• Minimum of 7–10 years experience in hotel operations.

• At least 3–5 years in a senior management or General Manager role.

• Experience managing a 3–5 star hotel is preferred.
